Charif Majdalani

Born in Beirut in 1960, Charif Majdalani is a Lebanese writer, novelist, and professor.

Between 2005 and 2016, he published five novels in French, which have been translated into seven languages: Histoire de la grande maison, Caravansérail (Moving the palace, awarded the Tropiques prize and François Mauriac prize from the French Academy), Nos si brèves années de gloire (2012), Le Dernier Seigneur de Marsad, and Villa des Femmes (awarded the Jean Giono prize).

Charif Majdalani is a member of the L’Orient littéraire’s editorial board and President of the International Writers’ House in Beirut.

He is a Knight of the French Order of Arts and Letters.
